Over the next few weeks I will be creating a cyber security virtual lab series for you, where we will build a network for the fictional company, Morgan Maxwell Real Estate. During this series you will learn basic and advanced networking principles, network and system administration and how to build and configure a next-generation firewall using Opnsense.
In addition to this we will also explore Windows Server and Ubuntu Server, and check out services such as Active Directory, Domain Controllers, DNS and file shares to name a few. If you are interested in cyber security blue teaming, we will build a threat hunting and monitoring solution using the Elasticsearch stack, and explore Elastic Security, while learning how to harden our systems.
If you prefer red teaming, we will deploy various attacks against our network and you will learn some important ethical hacking/pentesting techniques and principles along the way. All you will need to follow along is modern laptop or gaming pc with enough RAM and CPU power to run the virtual machine that we will setup in VirtualBox or an alternative hypervisor of your choice.
